Memories
1- Wrestling was our life! Our whole family used to play “wrestling ” and dad would blow the whistle and be the referee.
2- We owned a little farm outside of Monticello. We would pile in the back of the truck every day and go to the farm where he would milk the cow, feed animals. Us kids loved going to the farm with dad and play rodeo with the steer. One day as we were going he spit out the window. It landed right on my face! I started screaming and looked at dad and he was laughing so loud. He had the best laugh and laughed often.
3- I would spend hours sitting by him and watching him paint. He would whistle while he painted. I have picked up his whistling habit as well as has my brother Kirk.
4- I remember he cared so much for his wrestlers. He would sometimes call them at night to check on them and tell them to get to bed and that rest before a big wrestling tournament was so important.
He was always actively recruiting wrestlers to come wrestle for him. He would make home visits to ask boys to come wrestle.
